The Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana (DDU-GKY) is a flagship program of the Indian Ministry of Rural Development aimed at skilling and placing rural youth. It focuses on providing quality skill training and job placement opportunities to rural poor youth, ultimately aiming to transform them into an economically independent and globally relevant workforce.

DDUGKY Training

Key aspects of DDU-GKY:
Focus: Rural poor youth aged 15-35.
Goal: Skill training and placement in wage employment.

Demand-driven: Training is based on the needs of the industry and employers.
Target: One-third of trainees must be women.

How DDU-GKY works

Key aspects of DDU-GKY:
1. Registration: Rural youth eligible under DDU-GKY can register with the Ministry of Rural Development or their respective State Rural Livelihood Missions (SRLMs).
2. Skill Assessment:Potential trainees are assessed to determine their skill levels and aptitude.
3. Training: Trainees undergo skill training at designated training centers or institutions.
4. Placement: After completing training, beneficiaries are placed in wage employment opportunities, often through collaboration with industry partners.
5. Post-placement support: Emphasis on ensuring trainees are placed in jobs after training.

A candidate should first enroll himself/herself with Gram Rozgar Sewak or the Gram Panchayat. ... After contacting the nearby training center, a candidate should collect all the information regarding the trade and the training center that provides the training.

Youth from MGNREGA worker households with at least 15 days of work in the previous financial year by any of its family members. Youth from a household with RSBY card wherein the details of youth are mentioned in the card. Youth from households who have been issued Antyodaya Anna Yojana / BPL PDS cards.

Successful completion of training is usually followed by certification from relevant bodies like NCVT/SSC. PIAs are responsible for ensuring that certificates are issued within a specified timeframe. The program emphasizes the importance of certifications in recognizing skills and achievements, which can lead to better job prospects.

DDU-GKY focuses on securing placements for trained candidates, aiming for at least 75% placement rates. Placements are facilitated through partnerships with Project Implementing Agencies (PIAs) and employers. The program also emphasizes post-placement tracking and retention, as well as career progression opportunities.
